Definition of Define perspective
The second step of Design Thinking initiates a synthesis process and aims at:
- Analysing the empathy findings and users’ needs, detected during the previous stage
- Defining in a clear and simple way the problem to be addressed
- Reframing and understanding the meaningful challenge you will have to face
The “Define” stage in Design Thinking means:
- Reframing your challenge, based on new insights gained through your empathy work
- Reframing and redefining problems in a clearer way, based on previous findings
- Creating a reframed problem statement that will be the source for generating solutions and opportunities
The “Define” stage can be managed through specific tools. One of them is the so-called “Story share-and-capture”.
